Letting Go

To let go doesn't mean to stop caring;
It means I can't do it for someone else.
To let go is not to cut myself off...
It's the realization that I can't control another...
To let go is not to enable,
but to allow learning from natural consequences.
To let go is to admit powerlessness,
which means the outcome is not in my hands.
To let go is not to try and change or blame another,
I can only change myself.
To let go is not to care for, but to care about.
To let go is not to fix, but to be supportive.
To let go is not to judge,
but to allow another to be a human being.
To let go is not to be in the middle arranging all the outcomes,
but to allow others to affect their own outcomes.
To let go is not to be protective,
It is to permit another to face reality.
To let go is not to deny, but to accept.
To let go is not to nag, scold, or argue,
but to search out my own shortcomings and correct them.
To let go is not to adjust everything to my desires,
but to take each day as it comes and cherish the moment.
To let go is not to criticize and regulate anyone,
but to try to become what I dream I can be.
To let go is not to regret the past,
but to grow and live for the future.
To let go is to fear less and love more.

Life

You never know what you got
'Till someone takes it all away
It always seemed so close
But now I know it's so far away
You never know where to turn
Until you've missed the chance
It's usually to late
When you're ready to ask, "May I have this dance?"
I thought I knew what it was like
To have everything I wanted
But then one thing occurred to me
After I was badly taunted
There are few things I need in life
One of these is love
I've learned this through hate and strife
The other is loyal friends
Who will stand by you forever
I have one of these
And I will release it never
Not even if you say, "Pretty please."
So please help me now
I need come love
And I can tell you this
It isn't going to come from above
I know it's true
I've been a bad kid
And when I've had a problem
I've always ran and hid
But that's got to change
I've got to deal with it
'Cause if I don't now
I'm going to throw a fit
I've tried to end my life
It didn't go too well
This world is filled with hate and strife
All I've got to say is, "Farewell!"

What If We Were Really True

What if we were really true
And said everything we thought
Could we then stop feeling blue
Feeling every day that we just fought

What if we were really true
And showed just how we felt
Maybe then we could sail into
The sky and Orion's belt

What if we were really true
Would there be any depression then?
Would the world be kind and free from sin
No one wishing to flee within

What if we were really true
And showed what we really think
Could we then see the total view?
Of those around us who seem to sink

What if we were really true
And showed each passing day
What it really means to be happy
But only if we pray

What if we were really true
And looked God in the face
Never trying, never lying
Never wishing we were dying

What if we were really true
We did all things good and well
Can we become like Christ?
Only time will tell

Embracing All

A soulful poem that asks you to look inside and embrace the mystery of life.

Light that lies deep inside of me
Come forth in all thy majesty
Show me thy gaze
Teach me thy ways
That I a better person may be.

Darkness that lies deep inside of me
Come forth in all thy mystery
Show my thy gaze
Teach me thy ways
That I a better person may be.

Love that lies deep inside of me
Come forth in all they unity
Show me thy gaze
Teach me thy ways
That I a better person may be.
